Total nonfarm payroll employment in the U.S. increased by 22,000 jobs in August (job gains continue to lag). The unemployment rate changed little at 4.3%.
The labor force participation also changed very little at 62.3% for the month of August, but has declined by 0.4% over the year . Additionally, average hourly earnings rose by 0.3%, contributing to a 3.7% increase over the past 12 months.
