Total nonfarm payroll employment in the U.S. increased by 254,000 jobs in September, a substantial increase over the 142,000 jobs added in August. The unemployment rate dropped slightly to 4.1% (down by 0.1%). The labor force participation remained at 62.7% for the third consecutive month.
