Total nonfarm payroll employment in the U.S. increased by 303,000 in March — an improvement of 28,000 over February’s 275,000 increase. The unemployment rate dropped slightly to 3.8%, and this rate has been under 4% for 26 consecutive months. Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 4.1%.
