Total nonfarm payroll employment in the U.S. increased by 115,000 jobs in April (job gains primarily occurred in health care, transportation and warehousing, and retail trade). The unemployment rate remained the same at 4.3%.
The labor force participation decreased slightly to 62.8% for the month of April. Additionally, average hourly earnings rose by 0.2% (so far this year, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.6% overall)
